Heavy Rains and Snowfall Expected Across Northern Algeria

DZWatch has received information from the National Meteorology Office indicating that several northern regions of Algeria should prepare for significant weather events. Beginning tonight, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are anticipated across much of the northern part of the country.

A level one alert has been issued, forecasting snowfall in the highlands of Tlemcen and Sidi Bel Abbes overnight. More substantial snowfall is expected to begin tomorrow, Sunday, affecting a wider range of mountainous areas.

The following provinces are projected to experience heavy snowfall: Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Naama, El Bayadh, Saida, Tiaret, Laghouat, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, Medea, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Mila, Constantine, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, and M’Sila.

In addition to the snowfall warnings, the National Meteorology Office has also cautioned about the potential for locally heavy rainfall tomorrow, Sunday, in the following provinces: Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, Tlemcen, Oran, Ain Temouchent, Relizane, Mascara, Mostaganem, Chlef, Ain Defla, Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Jijel, Skikda, Mila, and Constantine. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
