Algeria Launches Second Phase of National Polio Vaccination Campaign

Algiers – The Ministry of Health today launched the second phase of the national polio vaccination campaign across the country. This initiative underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding child health and bolstering the preventative healthcare system.

The campaign, which runs from December 21st to December 27th, 2025, will encompass all regions of Algeria. It is part of a comprehensive national program designed to strengthen children’s immunity and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

This vaccination drive is a key component of the national health strategy aimed at eradicating polio and ensuring the health and well-being of future generations. It aligns with Algeria’s public health commitments and adheres to international standards for immunization programs.

To ensure broad coverage, the Ministry of Health has mobilized over 7,000 vaccination centers nationwide. Mobile medical teams will also be deployed to reach remote and isolated areas, guaranteeing equitable access to healthcare services for all children.

The campaign targets children aged two months to five years, including those who received the vaccine during the first phase and those who have not been previously vaccinated. Special attention will be given to children who have reached two months of age at the start of this second phase, ensuring continuous protection.

The Ministry of Health has emphasized the ongoing mobilization of medical and paramedical staff, along with close coordination with local stakeholders, to ensure the successful implementation of this strategically important national campaign. All measures are being taken to ensure the campaign proceeds smoothly under optimal organizational and sanitary conditions.

The Ministry of Health urges all parents and guardians to take their children to the nearest vaccination center. Child health is a shared responsibility, and this campaign represents a vital step towards a polio-free Algeria.
