Algeria Launches National Committee for Quality of Life

The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kouther Krikou, today inaugurated the National Study Meeting on Quality of Life at the Mofdi Zakaria Palace of Culture. The event, themed “National Achievements, Development Stakes,” was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and saw the participation of several government members, officials from public sectors and bodies, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.

Organized in coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the national meeting is part of a comprehensive national approach aimed at consolidating the concept of quality of life at the environmental, social, and economic levels, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

Minister Krikou emphasized that the meeting serves as a forum for dialogue and consultation among various actors, including ministries, public bodies, local authorities, academic institutions, and representatives of civil society. The goal is to exchange experiences, identify national priorities in the field of quality of life, and strengthen coordination mechanisms between different sectors.

The Minister stressed that the meeting aims to assess national achievements in improving the citizen’s living environment and to continue implementing the structural reforms launched by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. These reforms particularly concern the development of infrastructure, the improvement of public services, the strengthening of citizen stability, the support of youth, and the achievement of sustainable and comprehensive development.

During the event, Algeria witnessed the inauguration of the National Committee for Quality of Life. This committee is tasked with monitoring the implementation of major projects, such as the “Sustainable Model School” project, with a view to generalizing it at the national level and ensuring the sustainability of its development results.

The Minister affirmed that Algeria is steadily advancing in the implementation of its development project, relying on the capabilities and potential of its people, and resolutely facing various challenges, while preserving the country’s achievements and developmental stability. This commitment is in dedication to the sacrifices of the martyrs and in support of the efforts of the People’s National Army and various security agencies in protecting the country and its supreme interests. The National Committee for Quality of Life will oversee the Sustainable Model School project.
