National Polio Vaccination Campaign Enters Second Phase

Algiers, Algeria – The second phase of the national polio vaccination campaign commenced today across Algeria. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health, aims to bolster the nation’s defenses against this debilitating disease.

The campaign, running from December 21st to 27th, 2025, is a crucial component of Algeria’s national health strategy. It underscores the country’s commitment to safeguarding the health of its children and ensuring their protection from poliomyelitis, aligning with Algeria’s public health obligations and established immunization programs.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, the Ministry of Health has mobilized over 7,000 vaccination centers, supplemented by mobile medical teams. These teams are specifically tasked with reaching remote and isolated areas, guaranteeing that all targeted children, whether they received the initial dose or not, have access to the vaccine.

The Ministry has affirmed the continued dedication of its medical and paramedical personnel, working in close collaboration with local stakeholders to facilitate a smooth and efficient campaign, adhering to the highest organizational and health standards.

In a public appeal, the Ministry of Health urges parents and guardians to bring their children to designated health centers for vaccination. This proactive measure is vital for safeguarding their children’s health, strengthening collective immunity, and protecting the community from the threat of polio. The Ministry emphasizes that vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent this serious illness.

The success of this campaign is paramount to maintaining Algeria’s polio-free status and ensuring a healthy future for its children.
