Algiers – Algeria’s natural gas production experienced a significant boost in October 2025, marking a 4.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge translates to an additional 337 million cubic meters of gas produced, reinforcing Algeria’s position as a key energy supplier.
According to recent data, Algerian gas production reached 8.017 billion cubic meters (9.13 billion cubic feet per day) in October. This is a notable increase from the 7.68 billion cubic meters (8.74 billion cubic feet per day) produced in October 2024.
Domestic Consumption Declines
Interestingly, domestic gas consumption in Algeria witnessed a decrease, falling to 1.605 billion cubic meters (1.83 billion cubic feet per day) during the same period. This contrasts with the 1.747 billion cubic meters (1.99 billion cubic feet per day) consumed in October 2024, suggesting improved efficiency and usage in sectors like power generation and heating.
2025 Production Performance
Throughout 2025, Algeria’s gas production has largely remained above 8 billion cubic meters per month, with a peak exceeding 9 billion cubic meters earlier in the year. January saw a production volume of 9.74 billion cubic meters, a substantial 530 million cubic meter increase compared to January 2024. While a temporary dip occurred in May, production quickly rebounded in June and continued its upward trajectory in the second half of the year.
Data indicates that August production reached 8.36 billion cubic meters, culminating in the 8.017 billion cubic meters recorded in October.
It is worth noting that Algeria’s gas sector concluded 2024 with a total production of 98.41 billion cubic meters, a decrease of approximately 6.82 billion cubic meters compared to the previous year.
Slight Dip in Exports
Algeria’s gas exports, both via pipelines and in liquefied form, experienced a marginal decline in October 2025, settling at 4.208 billion cubic meters, compared to 4.265 billion cubic meters in October 2024. This decrease primarily affected pipeline gas exports, which fell to 2.851 billion cubic meters from 3.114 billion cubic meters.
