Algiers – State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, presided over the celebrations marking International Arabic Language Day on Sunday. The event, held in collaboration with the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language and its President, Mr. Salah Belaid, saw participation from diplomatic and consular centers abroad.
The commemoration underscores Algeria’s commitment to promoting and preserving the Arabic language, both domestically and within the Algerian diaspora. Mr. Chaib emphasized the crucial role of the Arabic language in maintaining cultural identity and fostering a strong sense of belonging among Algerian communities worldwide.
“The Arabic language is more than just a means of communication; it is the repository of our history, our values, and our collective memory,” stated Mr. Chaib during the ceremony.
