Algiers – FIFA has officially communicated its approval of the list of Algerian referees selected for international duty in 2026 to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). The decision follows the ratification of the proposed list by FIFA’s Referees Committee.
The approved list includes a number of experienced and promising officials, reflecting Algeria’s commitment to developing high-quality refereeing talent. These referees will be eligible to officiate in international matches and tournaments sanctioned by FIFA.
“This is a significant achievement for Algerian football,” stated a FAF spokesperson. “It demonstrates the progress we have made in raising the standards of refereeing in our country. We are confident that these referees will represent Algeria with distinction on the international stage.”
The selection process involved a rigorous assessment of the referees’ technical skills, physical fitness, and knowledge of the Laws of the Game. Those chosen have consistently demonstrated their ability to handle high-pressure situations and make accurate decisions under pressure.
The FAF is committed to providing ongoing support and training to its referees, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of international officiating. This includes access to the latest technology, expert coaching, and opportunities to gain experience at various levels of competition.
The inclusion of Algerian referees on the FIFA international list is a positive step for football in the country and signals a bright future for refereeing development. The FAF hopes this will inspire more young Algerians to pursue careers as referees, further strengthening the quality of officiating at all levels of the game.
