Algiers, December 21, 2025 – The Algerian government has officially launched a national initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for its citizens. The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Ms. Kawtar Krikou, presided over the inauguration of the Joint Sectoral National Committee tasked with developing the National Strategy for Quality of Life.
The launch coincided with the first edition of the National Meeting on Quality of Life, organized under the theme “National Achievements, Development Stakes.” This event served as a platform to discuss key aspects of the strategy and gather input from various stakeholders.
The newly formed committee comprises representatives from various ministries and sectors, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing the multifaceted dimensions of quality of life. The strategy is expected to encompass areas such as environmental protection, healthcare, education, housing, employment, and access to essential services.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Krikou emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being of its citizens and creating a sustainable and prosperous society. She highlighted the importance of collaboration and coordination among different sectors to ensure the effective implementation of the national strategy.
“This strategy represents a significant step towards enhancing the living standards of all Algerians,” stated Minister Krikou. “It is our collective responsibility to work together to achieve the goals outlined in the strategy and build a better future for generations to come.”
The National Strategy for Quality of Life is expected to be finalized in the coming months, following extensive consultations with experts, civil society organizations, and the public. The government aims to implement the strategy through a series of targeted programs and initiatives designed to address specific needs and challenges in different regions of the country.
