Algeria Establishes Committee to Combat Industrial Corruption

Algiers, December 21, 2025 – The Ministry of Industry today inaugurated a leadership committee tasked with implementing the national strategy for transparency, prevention, and fight against corruption within the industrial sector. The installation ceremony, held at the Ministry headquarters, was presided over by the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, and attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, the Inspector General, the Chief of Staff, and various Directors-General and Central Directors.

This initiative aligns with the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the broader national strategy overseen by the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight against Corruption. Its primary goal is to solidify the principles of good governance and foster a culture of transparency and integrity throughout the industrial landscape.

The newly formed sectoral committee will be responsible for developing a practical framework to translate the core tenets of the national strategy into actionable steps. It will also oversee the implementation and monitor the progress of these measures, proposing mechanisms to improve administrative performance and enhance transparency. The overarching aim is to cultivate an environment of trust and sound management within the sector.

This move also strengthens the authority of the Ministry’s Inspectorate General, particularly following the appointment of Judge Djazia Djoumana Mezache as its head. The emphasis on a robust and independent oversight body is seen as crucial to ensuring accountability and deterring corrupt practices.

During the inauguration, Minister Bachir emphasized the critical role of the committee in embedding a culture of transparency and integrity. He urged all officials to commit responsibly and effectively to their assigned tasks, working collaboratively to achieve the established objectives in preventing and combating corruption. The Minister reiterated the importance of promoting good governance across all facets of the industrial sector.

The establishment of this committee represents a significant step in Algeria’s ongoing efforts to promote ethical practices and enhance accountability within its vital industrial sector.
