Heavy Snow and Thunderstorms Hit Several Algerian Regions

Several regions across Algeria are experiencing severe weather conditions today, including heavy snowfall and intense thunderstorms. The meteorological services have issued warnings for continued unsettled weather patterns extending into tomorrow, Tuesday.

A special weather bulletin indicates that locally significant thunderstorms, potentially delivering up to 40mm of rainfall and accompanied by hail, are expected until midday today in the wilayas of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, and Relizane.

Another bulletin highlights similar thunderstorm activity, with rainfall reaching 30mm and hail, affecting the wilayas of Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Ain Defla, Blida, and Medea until 3 PM today.

Furthermore, locally significant thunderstorms with up to 30mm of rainfall and hail are anticipated from midday today until 9 PM in the wilayas of Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Bouira, Setif, and Mila.

Heavy thunderstorms, exceeding 40mm of rainfall and accompanied by hail, are forecast to continue until 6 AM tomorrow, Tuesday, in the wilayas of Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Constantine, Guelma, and Souk Ahras.

Regarding snowfall, the highlands of Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Naama, El Bayadh, and Laghouat are expected to receive heavy snowfall, potentially reaching a depth of 10cm in areas above 1100 meters. Similar heavy snowfall is also anticipated in the highlands of Djelfa, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Medea, Blida, Tizi Ouzou, and Bouira, starting from 9 AM until 6 PM today.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
