The champion of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 will receive a substantial financial reward of $10 million, announced CAF President Patrice Motsepe. This announcement followed a meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco.
The prize money represents a significant 43% increase compared to the 2023 edition, hosted and won by Cote d’Ivoire, where the reward was $7 million. In 2021, the winner’s prize was $5 million. This latest increase nearly doubles the prize money within a span of four years, marking an unprecedented 100% rise.
This historic increase highlights CAF’s commitment to investing in African football and incentivizing excellence on the field.
The runner-up in the tournament will also receive a considerable sum of $4 million. Teams reaching the semi-finals will each be awarded $2.5 million.
The boosted prize money for AFCON 2025 promises to further intensify the competition and elevate the prestige of the tournament. Football fans across the continent eagerly await the kickoff.
