Algiers, December 22, 2025 – The Algerian national football team has concluded the year on a positive note, ascending one position in the latest FIFA world rankings. The Desert Foxes now stand at 34th globally, boasting a total of 1517.68 points, according to the updated rankings released by FIFA.
This upward movement is attributed to the team’s strong performance in friendly matches during November. Algeria secured a decisive 3-1 victory against Zimbabwe and followed it up with a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia. These wins, combined with the performance of the national B team in the Arab Cup, contributed to the team’s improved standing.
Led by captain Riyad Mahrez, the team has shown consistent improvement throughout the year, solidifying its position as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. The ranking reflects the dedication and hard work of the players, coaching staff, and the Algerian Football Federation.
On the Arab front, Algeria has also made progress, now holding the 3rd position. This places them behind Morocco, who gained 3.22 points in the new FIFA rankings, and Senegal, who maintained their second-place position with the same points as the previous ranking.
The national team is preparing to face Sudan this Wednesday in their opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations. This presents another opportunity for Algeria to showcase their talent and further improve their FIFA ranking. The team’s performance in the tournament will undoubtedly influence their position in the upcoming rankings.
