RSF Claims Recapture of Key Town, Rejects Khartoum’s Peace Offer

Khartoum, Sudan – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced early Tuesday that they had regained control of the strategic town of Al-Aluba, located southeast of Al-Ubayyid, the capital of North Kordofan state in central Sudan. This announcement comes just hours after the Sudanese army declared its own capture of the town.

The RSF has also stated its rejection of a peace initiative presented by Khartoum to the United Nations Security Council.

According to a statement posted on Facebook by Al-Basha Tibiq, an advisor to the RSF commander, the recapture of Al-Aluba, described as strategically important, is complete. He further claimed that the RSF is tightening its grip on Al-Ubayyid, paving the way for the potential capture of the cities of Al-Rahd and Umm Ruwaba. Tibiq asserted that this move would effectively cut off the route between western and central Sudan, preventing any attempts by the army to advance into South Kordofan state via this corridor.

These developments follow reports from military sources within the Sudanese army who stated that they had seized Al-Aluba. The source claimed that the army inflicted significant losses on the RSF during the initial entry and subsequent control of the town.

Another military source reported that an RSF drone targeted Al-Dankoj, a town north of Al-Ubayyid.

The recent events are part of ongoing battles across multiple fronts in recent days. While direct clashes between the army and the RSF have reportedly decreased in intensity, the use of drones for attacks and counter-attacks has escalated in various conflict zones.

On Monday, the Sudanese army reportedly used drones to target several towns in West Kordofan state, where RSF forces are known to be deployed. A military source stated that these strikes resulted in the destruction of several combat vehicles and the neutralization of RSF fighters in multiple towns within the state.
