Algiers, December 24, 2025 – Participants at a workshop organized by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) emphasized the significant progress made in the national productive sector in recent years. The workshop, held in Algiers, centered on import substitution strategies and the need to further stimulate domestic production.
Speakers highlighted the notable development observed across various sectors of the Algerian economy. They underscored the importance of reinforcing this positive trend by enhancing local production capabilities and increasing the competitiveness of Algerian-made goods.
“The dynamism we are seeing in productive investment is encouraging,” stated one participant. “However, sustained growth requires a concerted effort to streamline processes, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and provide targeted support to local businesses.”
The discussions also touched upon the crucial role of innovation and technological advancement in driving productivity gains. Participants stressed the need for greater collaboration between research institutions, universities, and the private sector to foster a culture of innovation and accelerate the adoption of new technologies.
Furthermore, the importance of improving the business environment and ensuring fair competition was highlighted as essential for attracting both domestic and foreign investment. Addressing issues such as access to finance, infrastructure development, and regulatory clarity were identified as key priorities.
The workshop concluded with a call for a comprehensive and coordinated approach involving all stakeholders to capitalize on the current momentum and unlock the full potential of Algeria’s productive sector. The Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation and the Ministry of External Trade and Export Promotion are expected to play a crucial role in implementing the recommendations arising from the discussions.
