Algiers, December 24, 2025 – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, inaugurated the Research Center for Applied Mathematics today. The center is located at the scientific and technological hub ‘Martyr Abdelhafid Ihdaden’ in Sidi Abdallah, Algiers.
Badari stated that this inauguration marks a first for Algeria. He emphasized that it aligns with the ‘strategic developmental vision of a victorious Algeria, based on applied mathematics and artificial intelligence, as key pillars for sustainable national development.’
The Minister further explained that the center will provide data and statistics to the government, aiding decision-making in economic, social, health, and other sectors. It aims to ensure ‘precise scientific support to achieve the practical objectives of Algeria’s development vision for the years 2024-2029.’
The inauguration coincided with a study day entitled ‘From Data to Decision-Making: Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence for Tomorrow’s Infrastructure.’ The event saw participation from a selection of researchers, as well as the head of the National Agency for Health Security, Kamal Sanhadji.
Several bilateral agreements were also signed between the National Center for Research in Applied Mathematics and various institutions. These included the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence, the National Higher School of Mathematics, the National Polytechnic School of Oran, and the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies. An additional agreement was signed between the National Higher School of Mathematics and the National Polytechnic School of Oran. This initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies for national progress.
The new center is expected to become a vital resource for the country, providing critical insights and expertise in applied mathematics and its related fields. The government hopes this investment will accelerate Algeria’s development and improve its competitiveness on the global stage.
