Hermel, Lebanon – Reports are emerging of Israeli airstrikes targeting areas surrounding the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon. DZWatch has received confirmation from sources on the ground regarding the strikes, which occurred earlier today.
The reported strikes come amid heightened tensions in the region. There are also reports of strikes near Bsalia, located in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region of southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the strikes, asserting that they targeted Hezbollah assets within Lebanon. According to the IDF, the targets included infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon as well as the Hermel area in the east.
The IDF statement further elaborated, specifying that the strikes hit a training facility and logistical depot used by Hezbollah’s Radwan unit. They also claimed to have struck weapons storage facilities belonging to the group. The IDF alleges that these targets and Hezbollah’s activities in general violate the ceasefire agreements in place.
“We will continue to act to remove any threat to Israel,” the IDF statement concluded.
The situation remains fluid, and DZWatch is continuing to monitor developments closely. We will provide further updates as they become available. This is a developing story.
