Bouira, Algeria – Algeria’s Civil Protection units intervened early Friday to assist travelers stranded by heavy snowfall in the Tikjda region of Bouira province. According to a statement released by the General Directorate of Civil Protection, accumulated snow on National Road 33 led to the entrapment of four vehicles and a bus carrying 60 passengers on a tourist excursion.
Civil Protection teams were dispatched to the scene to extract the stranded individuals and ensure the safe resumption of traffic flow. The operation involved clearing the roadway and providing assistance to those affected by the adverse weather conditions.
In a separate incident, the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj reported that nine vehicles were immobilized in the municipality of Taglait due to icy conditions on Provincial Road 42 in the Kaf Bougrioua area. Authorities took immediate measures to facilitate traffic movement and safeguard the well-being of citizens.
DZWatch has learned that Civil Protection units continue to monitor road conditions across the affected regions, providing immediate assistance to those in need. The agency urged citizens to exercise caution while driving and to avoid hazardous routes during the current period of inclement weather.
The Civil Protection is reminding drivers to check weather forecasts and road conditions before embarking on journeys, and to ensure their vehicles are properly equipped for winter driving. They also advise carrying emergency supplies such as blankets, food, and water in case of unexpected delays.
