Algiers – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib emphasized the critical role of legal certainty in fostering investment and driving economic growth during the opening of a national conference on the topic. The conference, titled ‘Legal Security and Economic Development,’ underscores the government’s commitment to creating a stable and secure legal environment conducive to investment, initiative, and innovation.
Ghrib highlighted President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s personal interest in this matter, reflecting a clear strategic vision to position Algeria as a leading economic gateway in Africa. This vision aims to deepen the core principles of good governance: transparency, integrity, and accountability.
The Prime Minister noted that the conference, organized under the high patronage of President Tebboune by the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the National Union of Public Contractors, the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, and the Algiers Bar Association, represents a crucial step in examining the impact of legal security on Algeria’s economic landscape.
‘The reforms undertaken by the state, within the framework of the comprehensive legislative and economic reforms initiated by President Tebboune, focus on revising the legal and institutional framework for national investment, reforming economic real estate, and modernizing the banking and financial system, as well as the public procurement law,’ Ghrib stated.
He further stressed the importance of protecting public administrators and fostering a culture of legal security through measures such as decriminalizing management actions and promoting a policy of protecting honest state officials. These measures aim to ensure continuity in economic activity and stimulate innovation and productivity.
Ghrib concluded by asserting that, in a global economy characterized by profound transformations and intense competition, legal certainty is a fundamental element for sustainable development, requiring a reconstruction of development approaches based on economic efficiency.
