Somali President Rejects Israeli Recognition of ‘Somaliland’

Mogadishu – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has issued a strong rebuke of Israel, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of violating diplomatic norms and international legal principles. This statement comes in direct response to Israel’s announcement recognizing ‘Somaliland’ as an independent entity.

President Mohamud emphasized the unwavering unity of the Somali people, asserting that the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable and indivisible. He affirmed that Somalia remains united and will not be divided.

The Somali President’s remarks, widely reported across the region, reflect growing international concern over Israel’s recent actions and their potential destabilizing impact on the Horn of Africa.

Pakistan has joined the chorus of international condemnation, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs issuing a statement denouncing Israel’s declaration. The Pakistani government views the move as a blatant violation of international standards and an attempt to undermine Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial unity.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry further warned that this action not only jeopardizes the stability of Somalia but also poses a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region. They cautioned against the potential political and security repercussions in the short and medium term.

This escalating rejection underscores a growing international stance against any unilateral actions that undermine the unity and sovereignty of nations. It reaffirms the commitment to the principles of international law and the respect for internationally recognized borders. The situation is being closely monitored by international observers who fear further escalation and instability in the region.
