Justice Minister Oversees Prison Staff Graduation Ceremony

Algiers, December 29, 2025 – The Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boujemaa, presided over the graduation ceremony for new officers and rehabilitation personnel at the National School for Prison Administration Employees in Koléa earlier today.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Justice, the graduating classes comprise a total of 1672 trainees. This includes 55 principal rehabilitation officers, 88 rehabilitation officers, and 1529 rehabilitation agents.

These individuals have completed an intensive 12-month training program that combined theoretical studies with practical exercises. The curriculum was specifically tailored to meet the evolving demands of prison reform. The program emphasizes the modernization of administrative and financial management within correctional facilities. It also focuses on enhancing educational, health, and psychological support services for inmates.

A key objective of this comprehensive training is to prepare inmates for successful social reintegration upon their release. The curriculum is designed to align with international standards for the protection and respect of human rights. This ensures that correctional practices adhere to global best practices.
