Algiers, December 29, 2025 – The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today the extension of facilitated entry procedures for Algerian citizens residing abroad. This measure, which allows Algerian nationals holding valid foreign passports to enter and exit the country without a visa, will now remain in effect until December 31, 2026.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, beneficiaries of this provision can enter Algeria by presenting a valid foreign passport, accompanied by either a biometric Algerian passport or a biometric national identity card, even if these Algerian documents have expired. The Ministry emphasized that the same set of documents must be used for both entry and departure.
This extension provides significant relief and convenience for members of the Algerian diaspora planning to visit their homeland. The initial implementation of this facilitation aimed to streamline travel for Algerian citizens living overseas, addressing concerns about visa requirements and administrative burdens.
The decision to extend the measure reflects the government’s continued commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of the Algerian community abroad, particularly regarding ease of travel to Algeria. This initiative aligns with the President’s directives to ensure the well-being and facilitate the connection of Algerian citizens living outside the country with their homeland.
The extension is expected to be welcomed by the large Algerian diaspora, offering them greater flexibility and reduced administrative hurdles when planning visits to Algeria. This move underscores the government’s dedication to strengthening ties with its citizens abroad and fostering a sense of belonging and connection to the nation.
