Algiers, December 29, 2025 – Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a mosque in Homs, Syria.
The attack, which targeted the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dhahab district during Friday prayers, resulted in the deaths of several worshippers. Boughali described the assault as a cowardly act of terrorism.
“This criminal act, which led to the martyrdom of a number of worshippers, is a blatant attack on Islamic sanctities and on the values of humanity and morality,” Boughali stated. He added that the attack is part of desperate attempts to incite sectarian strife and sow chaos among the Syrian people.
The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union reiterated its unwavering support for the Syrian people and government in their fight against terrorism in all its forms. The Union also called on the international community to take decisive measures to combat the promotion of terrorism.
