Delivery Service Drug Ring Busted in Boumerdès

Boumerdès, Algeria – December 29, 2025 – National Gendarmerie units in Boumerdès have dismantled a criminal network exploiting delivery services to traffic illicit substances. The operation, conducted by the Research and Investigation Department of the National Gendarmerie’s regional group, targeted individuals using courier companies to move narcotics and psychotropic drugs.

According to a statement released by the Gendarmerie, the investigation was launched following credible intelligence indicating that criminal groups were disguising the transport of illegal substances by sending packages through legitimate express delivery services. This prompted a comprehensive investigation by the Research and Investigation Department, which included enhanced intelligence gathering and close coordination with licensed delivery companies operating within the Boumerdès province.

The Gendarmerie’s efforts focused on intensifying scrutiny of all incoming and outgoing packages, with courier services instructed to report any suspicious items immediately. This vigilance led to the seizure of four suspect packages originating from Ouargla at a local express delivery office. The packages were carefully sealed and cleverly concealed.

Upon inspection, a substantial quantity of psychotropic drugs was discovered inside the packages. Authorities were able to identify all three members of the network. The operation resulted in the seizure of 40,935 capsules of Pregabalin 300mg. One suspect was apprehended, while two remain at large. A vehicle and four mobile phones were also confiscated.

Following the completion of the investigation, the individuals involved will be brought before the relevant judicial authorities to face charges related to the illegal possession, transportation, distribution, acquisition, and purchase of psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale. The National Gendarmerie in Boumerdès continues its efforts to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety.
