Algiers – In a move welcomed by the Algerian diaspora, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the extension of facilitative measures allowing Algerian nationals residing abroad to enter and exit the country without a visa. This extension will remain in effect until December 31, 2026.
The announcement, made on Monday, December 29, 2025, confirms that Algerian citizens holding valid foreign passports are exempt from visa requirements when entering and leaving Algeria. This measure, initially implemented to ease travel for the diaspora, has now been extended for an additional year.
The decision to prolong the visa exemption is in direct response to instructions from the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement released by the Ministry. The President’s directive underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Algerian nationals living abroad and facilitating their connection with their homeland.
The extension is expected to significantly benefit Algerian expatriates, simplifying travel arrangements and encouraging more frequent visits. It also aims to boost tourism and investment within Algeria, as easier access is likely to attract more Algerian nationals to spend time and resources in their country of origin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad continues to emphasize its dedication to serving the needs of Algerians living overseas and fostering a strong sense of national identity. This initiative is a clear indication of the government’s ongoing efforts to support and engage with its diaspora community.
This move will be seen as a positive step in strengthening the bonds between Algeria and its citizens abroad, making it easier for them to return home and contribute to the country’s development.
