Algiers – In a move aimed at further streamlining travel for Algerian citizens residing abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an extension of the visa exemption program until December 31, 2026. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating smoother and more frequent connections between the diaspora and their homeland.
The extension follows directives from the President, reflecting a dedication to addressing the concerns of Algerians living outside the country, particularly those related to ease of entry and exit. The goal is to strengthen the enduring bonds between Algerian expatriates and their nation.
According to the Ministry’s statement, this simplified procedure applies to Algerian citizens residing abroad who hold valid foreign passports. These individuals can now enter and exit Algeria without the previously required visa.
To benefit from this exemption, eligible travelers need only present their valid foreign passport, accompanied by either a biometric Algerian passport or a biometric national identity card, even if expired. The same set of documents must be used for both entry and departure.
This extension reaffirms the commitment of public authorities to continuously simplify administrative procedures, support the Algerian diaspora, and facilitate their travel to and from their homeland under optimal conditions. The government views the diaspora as a vital part of the nation and is actively working to foster stronger ties.
This measure is expected to significantly benefit thousands of Algerians living abroad, making it easier for them to visit family, conduct business, and maintain their connection to Algerian culture.
