Algiers – The Sudanese national team has officially qualified for the Round of 16 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Sudan joins Benin and Mozambique as one of the best third-placed teams to advance from the group stage, following the conclusion of today’s matches that determined the qualifiers.
The qualification of the ‘Falcons of Jediane’ came after a series of interconnected results in the final stages of the group phase. The outcomes of certain head-to-head matches favored Sudan in the ranking of the best third-placed teams, marking their strong return to the knockout stages of the continental tournament.
The day’s results also confirmed the official elimination of Equatorial Guinea from the competition, regardless of the outcome of their upcoming match against Algeria. They have lost all mathematical chances of qualifying.
