Algeria Vows to Uphold Social State Principles

Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed today that Algeria remains steadfast in its commitment to the social character of the state, a principle deeply rooted in the spirit of the November 1st Declaration of 1954.

Speaking from the Presidential Palace, President Tebboune emphasized that the government will continue to prioritize social welfare programs and policies aimed at ensuring a decent standard of living for all Algerians. He reiterated the importance of social justice and equality of opportunity as cornerstones of the nation’s development strategy.

“We will not abandon the social character of the state,” the President stated firmly. “This is not merely a political slogan; it is a fundamental principle enshrined in our national identity and a commitment we owe to the sacrifices of our forefathers.”

The President’s statement comes amidst ongoing discussions about economic reforms and diversification efforts aimed at reducing Algeria’s reliance on hydrocarbon revenues. While acknowledging the need for fiscal responsibility and sustainable economic growth, President Tebboune stressed that these objectives must be pursued in a manner that safeguards the social safety net and protects vulnerable populations.

The government has recently implemented several measures designed to improve social welfare, including increased pensions for retirees, enhanced unemployment benefits, and subsidized housing programs. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to addressing social inequalities and ensuring that the benefits of economic progress are shared by all segments of society.

President Tebboune concluded by reaffirming his administration’s determination to build a more just and equitable society, one that upholds the values of solidarity, social responsibility, and national unity.
