New York – As Algeria concludes its term on the United Nations Security Council, Ambassador Amar Bendjama, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, has affirmed that the nation has fulfilled its responsibilities. In a statement released today, Ambassador Bendjama emphasized the international community’s crucial role in addressing global hotspots and preventing the escalation of conflicts through just and sustainable political solutions.
“Algeria approached its Security Council tenure with a firm commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Charter and promoting peace and security worldwide,” stated Ambassador Bendjama. “We have consistently advocated for dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for the sovereignty of nations and the rights of peoples. We believe we have diligently worked to advance these goals during our time on the Council.”
The Ambassador highlighted Algeria’s active engagement in addressing key issues on the Security Council’s agenda, including conflicts in Africa, the Middle East, and other regions. He underscored the importance of finding comprehensive solutions that address the root causes of instability and promote long-term peace and development.
