President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has reiterated his unwavering commitment to serving the Algerian people and combating corruption in all its forms. In a recent address to the nation before a joint session of Parliament, the President emphasized the importance of prioritizing the interests of the citizenry and ensuring that justice prevails against all corrupt practices.
“We will serve the interests of the people, and we will not be deterred by difficulties or attempts at disruption from within or abroad,” President Tebboune stated firmly. He further asserted that “justice will be vigilant against all forms of corruption,” while also pledging to protect honest and dedicated state officials.
Beyond the fight against corruption, President Tebboune highlighted the positive strides made by the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion. He revealed that the contribution of industry to the gross national income is currently around 10%. The President also expressed his determination to increase this figure to 12% or 13% in the near future. He further noted that local pharmaceutical production now covers 82% of the national market, which is expected to save the country approximately $200 million by the end of 2025.
“We have realized the dream of a strong Algeria with its mines, and Gara Djebilet will be the third largest mine in the world. The first mining train will arrive in Oran at the end of January,” President Tebboune announced. He also affirmed that phosphate production would increase fivefold, from 1.5 million tons to 10 million tons, with the goal of transporting phosphates to Annaba by the end of 2026.
Addressing economic progress, President Tebboune noted, “We have reached a 47% increase in wages and are striving to raise it to 100%, while unemployment is in the range of 9.5 to 10%.” These statements underscore the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of Algerian citizens and fostering economic growth across various sectors.
