DZWatch Exclusive: Leaked documents and recordings obtained by DZWatch reveal a clandestine plot orchestrated by high-ranking generals from the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad. The scheme aims to destabilize the current Syrian government through renewed military action, primarily focused in the Syrian coastal region.
The leaked materials, part of an upcoming DZWatch investigation, point to a coordinated effort led by figures like Suheil al-Hassan, the former commander of special forces under Assad, and supported financially by Rami Makhlouf, a prominent businessman and cousin of the former president. The documents expose critical roles played by al-Hassan and former Brigadier General Ghiath Dala in orchestrating military operations and reactivating dormant pro-regime cells.
According to sources, the recordings and documents were obtained after a breach of communication devices belonging to several Assad regime officers. The individual responsible for the breach reportedly posed as an officer from the Israeli Mossad, gaining access to sensitive conversations and military plans.
DZWatch has obtained over 74 hours of recordings and more than 600 documents, detailing the efforts of remnants of the former regime to reorganize and coordinate activities between key military and security figures who previously held leadership positions.
The recordings allegedly include statements from Suheil al-Hassan praising Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip, and attempts to solicit support from the individual he believed to be an Israeli intelligence officer. These actions suggest a broader effort to establish external channels for support in any potential military action.
The documents further indicate that the plans extend beyond theoretical discussions, encompassing arrangements for military operations intended to destabilize the region, particularly the coastal area, a traditional stronghold for many leaders and officers associated with the former regime.
This is a developing story. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
