Algiers, December 31, 2025 – General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), has extended his warmest wishes to all ranks of the Algerian military on the occasion of the New Year 2026.
In a message addressed to officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees, General Chengriha conveyed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for a prosperous year ahead.
“As we welcome the New Year 2026, it gives me great pleasure to extend my heartfelt greetings and sincere congratulations to all members of the People’s National Army, the faithful successor to the National Liberation Army,” the message read. “I pray to Almighty God to grant you all good health and well-being, and to bring you, your families, and loved ones a year filled with blessings, prosperity, and success in your noble missions, serving our beloved nation and its proud people.”
General Chengriha also emphasized the vital role played by the ANP in safeguarding the country’s borders and maintaining security across the national territory. He highlighted the importance of continuous training and readiness to face any emerging threats and adapt to evolving regional and international circumstances.
“I would also like to emphasize, on this occasion, the vitality of the efforts you are making along the length of the national borders, and in the mountains, plains, and valleys, across all parts of the national territory,” he stated. “These efforts require, in order to be truly fruitful and effective, due attention and necessary care to be given to continuing the effort to prepare the combat force, to be always ready to face any emergency, and adapted to various circumstances and developments on the regional and international scenes.”
Furthermore, the Chief of Staff underscored the need to intensify efforts in combating remaining terrorist groups and thwarting organized crime, including drug trafficking, and reiterated the ANP’s commitment to defending Algeria’s territorial integrity, national unity, security, and stability. He called for innovation, initiative, and vigilance in eradicating terrorism and defeating all malicious plots against the nation.
“With such effort and dedication, you, the sons of the People’s National Army, will be, as I have always known you to be, worthy of the trust placed in you by your proud people, faithful to the sacrifices of your glorious predecessors, the makers of the victorious liberation revolution, and your comrades in arms, who sacrificed the most precious thing they possess in order to save the Republic,” the message concluded.
