The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, chaired a coordination meeting with the Governors of the Republic via video conference yesterday. The meeting focused on evaluating the performance of 2025, assessing the implementation of planned programs, and preparing for 2026 by setting priorities, boosting developmental momentum, and accelerating the resolution of priority issues at the wilaya level, according to a ministry statement.
At the start of the meeting, the Interior Minister emphasized that the management of a wilaya is based on collective action and continuous coordination between various frameworks and departments. He called for strengthening mobilization and active participation in local dynamics, involving competencies, and valuing efforts to ensure improved performance and effective field follow-up of various development projects, under the supervision of the Governors.
The Minister called for the preparation of a clear action plan by the beginning of 2026, which includes all the instructions given and the objectives set, while enhancing coordination between various local departments and bodies. He stressed the need for close monitoring of structural projects to which the President of the Republic pays special attention, as well as monitoring and maintenance of the road network, especially routine maintenance of urban roads, and improving the management of the transport sector, giving it the necessary importance within the work of the Wilaya councils.
The Minister stressed the importance of the regular monitoring of development and investment projects that create added value and contribute to giving a positive impetus to the local economy, while accelerating the pace of completion and addressing field obstacles in a timely manner, through the strict activation of the wilaya committees in charge of lifting restrictions and supporting investors.
Regarding the real estate file, the Interior Minister stressed the strict monitoring of land allocated to wastewater treatment plant projects and seawater desalination plants, and ensuring the regularization of their status in accordance with applicable legal texts, given the strategic nature of these projects and their importance in strengthening national water security. The Minister ordered the immediate purging of the equipment program code registered within the framework of the Social and Economic Development Support Program and the Solidarity and Guarantee Fund for Local Communities.
The Interior Minister called for doubling the activity of the competent local committees to decide on all files submitted in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 08-15, and to complete the file of building compliance and regularization of their status during 2026, while committing to delivering compliance decisions to their owners.
