The meeting, held Friday, was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, and included the presence of the Head of the Minister’s Cabinet and the Director-General of Mobility and Logistics.

Participants included representatives from key social partners such as the National Organization of Algerian Transporters, the National Union of Transporters, the General Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen, the General Union of Algerian Workers, and the National Union of Taxi Transport under the umbrella of the General Union of Algerian Workers.

The meeting, convened under the instruction of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, focused on the fact that the draft traffic law is still undergoing review as part of the established legislative process. The Secretary-General of the Ministry emphasized that the draft remains open to amendments based on feedback and suggestions, clarifying recent discussions on the matter.

Regarding transport pricing, emphasis was placed on ensuring that studies of this issue will consider the social aspect of public service and the affordability for citizens.

A ministry statement indicated that the meeting was held to address concerns raised within the established institutional frameworks, ensuring – according to the statement – “the smooth operation of public transport services and the service of citizens.”

Minister Saayoud’s services emphasized that “the door to dialogue remains open to address all concerns.”
