Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi has lauded the swift and efficient handover of military camps in the eastern governorates of Hadramout and al-Mahra. The successful operation signals a promising new era of development and reconstruction for the region, according to the President.
Al-Alimi congratulated the people of Hadramout and al-Mahra on the operation’s success, praising the responsible leadership and wisdom of the local authorities in managing the transition and prioritizing the public interest. He emphasized that restoring security and stability in the two governorates marks the beginning of a new chapter focused on development and reconstruction.
The President expressed confidence in the support of allies for infrastructure and service projects, aiming to unlock investment opportunities and create jobs that directly benefit citizens. He believes this achievement reflects the local communities’ support for the state and its institutions, paving the way for improved living conditions and coexistence.
Al-Alimi also acknowledged the efforts of the joint forces of the Saudi-led coalition in supporting legitimacy by securing the operation, de-escalating tensions, and protecting civilians.
These remarks follow an announcement by the Governor of Hadramout, Salem al-Khanbashi, regarding the restoration of control over all Hadramout territories. Following the withdrawal of Southern Transitional Council forces, Al-Khanbashi affirmed the beginning of a new phase of governance based on consensus and coexistence among all residents.
According to official reports, Al-Khanbashi indicated the imminent resumption of operations at the governorate’s airports and the lifting of the air embargo. He also directed the formation of a committee to assess damages to public and private property and announced plans to integrate Hadrami Elite forces and provide support to the families of martyrs and the wounded.
The Governor emphasized the political leadership’s commitment to avoiding conflict from the outset, stating that the withdrawal of certain forces coincided with the deployment of troops on the ground to ensure the governorate’s stability.
