Algiers – Houari Hadjam has officially left the Algerian national team’s training camp, DZWatch can confirm. National team coach Vladimir Petkovic announced the player’s departure today, following unsuccessful attempts by the technical staff to retain him within the squad for the current preparatory period.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on the eve of the highly anticipated match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preparations. Petkovic explained that the technical team had strived to reintegrate the player and prepare him both psychologically and physically. However, these efforts proved unsuccessful, leading to Hadjam’s departure from the camp this evening.
The national coach emphasized that the team’s focus is now entirely on the upcoming match. He stressed the importance of discipline and mental readiness during this crucial phase of the continental tournament, asserting that the team possesses capable replacements who can contribute effectively.
Petkovic added that preparations are proceeding in a positive atmosphere and that the players are fully aware of the responsibility placed upon them, particularly in the knockout stages, where there is no room for error. He indicated that the objective remains to achieve a positive result and continue the journey with steadfastness.
The Algerian sporting public eagerly anticipates a strong performance, given the high expectations placed on ‘Les Verts’ to go far in the continental competition. The team is now fully focused on the upcoming challenges, putting the Hadjam situation behind them.
