Following widespread frustration among Algerian football fans, the Minister of Sports and President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Walid Sadi, has intervened to resolve issues surrounding ticket sales for the highly anticipated quarter-final match between Algeria and Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations. The game is scheduled to take place this Saturday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.
Reports indicate that Sadi’s direct involvement led to the reopening of the online ticket sales platform late Thursday evening. This action aims to alleviate the significant difficulties fans experienced in securing tickets in the preceding hours. What appeared to be a block on the platform dedicated to the Algeria-Nigeria match was lifted, allowing sales to gradually resume starting at 8 PM.
Ticket prices for the Algeria-Nigeria clash at the Grand Stade de Marrakech are divided into three categories. The first category is priced at 200 Moroccan Dirhams, the second at 400 Dirhams, and the third at 600 Dirhams. Despite the prices, demand for tickets from fans of the ‘Les Verts’ has been exceptionally high.
The online platform experienced significant delays and slowdowns due to the unprecedented demand for tickets to this crucial match. The intervention by the Sports Minister is expected to streamline the process and ensure that genuine fans have the opportunity to support their team in Marrakech. The Algerian team hopes for a strong showing with the support of their fans in Morocco.
