Algiers, Algeria – The Algerian Presidency has expressed its deepest condolences following the death of journalist Nakhla Larbi, who passed away after a long battle with illness. Larbi was a prominent figure at the French-language Algerian television channel.
In a statement released earlier today, the Directorate General of Communication at the Presidency conveyed their sorrow. “It is with great sadness and sorrow that the Directorate General of Communication at the Presidency of the Republic received the news of the death of journalist Nakhla Larbi, who worked for the French-language Algerian television channel, after a long struggle with illness,” the statement read.
Larbi began her career in print journalism, working for the daily newspaper El Watan. She later joined the public television broadcaster in 2010, where she became a well-respected and familiar face to viewers across the nation.
The Presidency’s statement further emphasized the loss felt by the Algerian media landscape. “With her departure, the television institution and the Algerian press in general lose a cultured journalist and a distinguished writer, known for her professionalism and human sensitivity.”
