Aleppo is now completely free of QSD (Syrian Democratic Forces) fighters, according to Governor Azzam al-Gharib. This announcement follows reports of a ceasefire agreement reached through international mediation, as stated by QSD General Commander Mazloum Abdi.
Governor al-Gharib confirmed in a statement that the last QSD elements have departed from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts. Reports indicate that the final group of fighters left Sheikh Maqsoud via buses headed towards northeastern Syria.
Internal security forces have reportedly taken control of the Yassin Hospital in Sheikh Maqsoud after the departure of QSD forces. Security personnel are now working to secure the hospital and its surrounding area.
The Syrian Army Operations Authority stated that QSD fighters who were positioned in Yassin Hospital would be relocated to Tabqa city after disarming. However, QSD has denied a full withdrawal of its fighters, claiming the movement involves civilians being displaced.
Previously, reports indicated that approximately 90 QSD fighters surrendered to the Syrian Army in Sheikh Maqsoud. These individuals were reportedly transferred to the Ministry of Interior for interrogation and subsequent judicial proceedings.
QSD General Commander Mazloum Abdi stated that an understanding has been reached, facilitated by international parties, to implement a ceasefire. This agreement aims to secure the removal of the deceased, wounded, stranded civilians, and fighters from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts to northeastern Syria.
In related developments, reports have emerged regarding the use of drones. Sources indicate that three QSD drones were launched from the Deir Hafer area, heading towards Aleppo. Syrian state media also reported the presence of suicide drones in the city’s airspace.
Internal security forces in Manbij, located in the Aleppo countryside, have issued warnings to residents to avoid gatherings due to potential threats posed by suicide drones. The Syrian Army Operations Authority has accused QSD of escalating the conflict by targeting Aleppo and its institutions with Iranian-made drones. They further allege that these drone attacks have resulted in casualties and significant property damage. The Syrian Army claims to have targeted the launch sites of these drones.
