Cabinet Meeting Focuses on Digitalization, Agriculture Roadmap

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a cabinet meeting focusing on the progress of digitalization efforts across various sectors and the roadmap for the agricultural sector through 2026. The meeting also included a review of the planting and sowing campaign for the 2025-2026 season.

Following the presentation of the agenda and a report on the government’s activities over the past two weeks by the Prime Minister, President Tebboune issued directives and instructions on key areas.

Digitalization Progress:

The President commended the significant progress made in digitizing information and data across all sectors. He emphasized the importance of connecting and analyzing this data to identify and address shortcomings promptly. President Tebboune instructed all government members to establish technical teams within their departments. These teams will be responsible for the daily updating of data within the national digital database, ensuring accurate and timely information for relevant stakeholders.

Agriculture Roadmap 2026:

President Tebboune stressed the continued importance of organizing the agricultural sector, prioritizing increased per-hectare production. He directed the government to allocate resources and create favorable conditions to boost grain production, reflecting the commitment to modernizing this strategic sector. The President emphasized the need for scientific methods in all stages of agriculture, within an integrated strategy involving experts and agricultural engineers, while considering seed quality and regional specificities.

Furthermore, President Tebboune called for a revision of the agricultural guidance law, including mechanisms for regulating and controlling agricultural production. He advocated for reducing imports without creating market shortages by encouraging specialized cooperatives, supported by ongoing state incentives. The Minister of Agriculture was tasked with finding solutions to restore red and white meat production to levels that meet national market needs, involving producers and breeders in the process.

Reiterating the principle that land belongs to those who cultivate it, the President affirmed the state’s commitment to resolving land tenure issues for farmers and producers, aiming for optimal production levels.
