Trump Considers Military Option in Iran Amidst Protests

President Donald Trump is reportedly leaning towards a military response in Iran, amidst ongoing protests within the country. However, sources indicate that he may also be open to giving diplomacy another chance. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that Iran is prepared should the U.S. pursue military action.

According to a White House official, President Trump is considering a military strike against Iran to punish the regime for its violent crackdown on protestors. However, a final decision has not been made, and proposals for negotiations are also being considered. Some within the Trump administration reportedly believe that military action could be counterproductive.

The Wall Street Journal reports that senior aides within the Trump administration are urging the President to explore diplomatic avenues before resorting to military strikes against Iran. The White House is reportedly considering an offer from Iran to engage in talks regarding its nuclear program. However, President Trump appears to be weighing the possibility of authorizing military action.

Reports suggest that any potential strike would be aimed at sending a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei regarding the killing of protestors, rather than seeking the direct overthrow of the Iranian government.

Senator Lindsey Graham has reportedly urged President Trump to take decisive action against Iran, stating that the Iranian regime has crossed red lines. He advocated for a firm response without deploying ground troops.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that if Washington wishes to test the military option, as it has done in the past, Iran is ready. He accused the United States and Israel of seeking to create internal unrest within Iran.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran is prepared for all options, expressing hope that Washington will choose what he termed the “wise option.”
