Pakistani Police Officers Killed in Bomb Attack

Seven Pakistani police officers were killed Monday in a bomb attack targeting their vehicle in the Tank district of northwestern Pakistan, according to local police.

The armored vehicle was reportedly struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Images from the scene show the wreckage of the vehicle overturned at the roadside.

Parvez Shah, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Tank, stated that five officers were killed instantly when the remotely detonated bomb exploded. Two more succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered a full investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

In separate incidents in the Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least two civilians and three militants were also killed.

According to figures released by the Pakistani military, the country experienced 5,397 attacks throughout 2025.

The mountainous and border region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a marked escalation in violence. Islamabad has accused Afghan authorities of allowing militants to use Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan, allegations which Kabul denies.
