Algeria, Europe Partner to Boost Local Drug Production

Algeria is forging closer ties with European partners to enhance the domestic production of innovative pharmaceuticals. The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, recently hosted the Swedish Ambassador to Algeria, Anna Block Mazoyer, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, James Robert Stephen Downer, at the Ministry headquarters.

The meeting, which included the General Manager of AstraZeneca Algeria and the Regional Director for Africa and the Maghreb of the same laboratory, focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry. A key topic of discussion was investment opportunities and the localization of innovative drug manufacturing within Algeria.

The discussions provided a platform to exchange ideas on transferring expertise and modern technologies to advance the national pharmaceutical industry. The goal is to bolster production capabilities, especially in the realm of high-value-added medicines.

Minister Kouidri emphasized the readiness of his ministry to support all stakeholders interested in investing and establishing innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in Algeria. He affirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with reputable foreign laboratories that contribute to the introduction of cutting-edge technologies and generate genuine added value for the national economy.
