Algerian authorities have successfully dismantled three major drug trafficking networks in a series of coordinated operations conducted over the past week. The operations, led by the Central Service for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking, resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals, including one woman, suspected of involvement in organized crime related to drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.
The first operation, carried out in a western province, led to the seizure of 120 kilograms of processed cannabis. The drugs were concealed within a modified compartment inside a utility vehicle, demonstrating a sophisticated attempt at concealment.
In a separate operation in Algiers, authorities seized 38 kilograms of cocaine. The investigation also led to the arrest of individuals allegedly involved in smuggling and distributing the drug within the capital.
A third operation targeted a criminal network attempting to smuggle psychotropic substances into a northern province. Law enforcement officers successfully intercepted the shipment, seizing 59,340 capsules of “Pregabalin.”
Seven vehicles used in the criminal activities were also recovered during the operations. The suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutors at the specialized penal divisions in Oran, Khelifa and Dar El Beida.
These successful operations underscore the ongoing commitment of Algerian security forces to combat organized smuggling networks and address the threat of drug trafficking, safeguarding public safety and health.
