Algeria remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting all its citizens, both at home and abroad. This assurance was delivered by the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, during a recent meeting.
Boughali emphasized that the Algerian state, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is approaching the complex issues surrounding migration and the precarious situations faced by Algerian nationals overseas with a deeply humane and nationalistic vision. He highlighted that the recent Council of Ministers meeting underscored this commitment with a profoundly ‘humanitarian’ message.
The Speaker clarified that Algeria distinguishes clearly between citizens who may have ‘stumbled’ and those elements attempting to exploit their difficulties to tarnish the nation’s image. ‘The nation embraces everyone,’ Boughali stated firmly, ‘and the state will not abandon its children. Protecting the dignity of our youth is a collective responsibility.’
Boughali described the government’s decision to regularize the status of young Algerians abroad as a strategic move to bolster trust between citizens and state institutions. He asserted that addressing irregular migration in ‘New Algeria’ is guided by wisdom, inclusion, and attentive listening, rejecting exclusion or political exploitation by criminal networks. This approach aims to provide solutions and support for Algerians facing challenges abroad.
Furthermore, Boughali lauded the strategic importance the Council of Ministers has placed on the digitalization and agriculture sectors. He identified these sectors as fundamental pillars for safeguarding the national economy and achieving comprehensive sovereignty. He called for effective legislation to support these priorities, enhance parliamentary performance, and meet the aspirations of the Algerian people.
Boughali concluded by urging continued collaboration within the People’s National Assembly, praising the efforts of deputies from all political affiliations to promote democratic practices and constructive dialogue. This, he said, is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of state institutions and strengthening their oversight and legislative roles.
