Oran, Algeria – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, has called upon university students to actively participate in the nation’s economic development. During a visit to the Higher School of Biological Sciences in Oran on Thursday, Minister Badari emphasized the importance of transforming innovative student projects into startups and small businesses.
Addressing students during an exhibition showcasing innovative projects, Badari urged them to secure patents for their inventions to protect their intellectual property. He stressed the need to convert scientific research into marketable products by establishing startups and micro-enterprises. He further instructed faculty advisors to guide students along this path, aiming to make universities a driving force for development, job creation, and sustainable wealth.
The Minister’s visit to Oran also includes an inspection of the Industrial Technology Research Center in the Es-Senia district, where he will inaugurate a subsidiary. He will also tour the technological platform for mechanical systems, intervention robotics, and services at the same research institution.
At the University of Science and Technology of Oran “Mohamed Boudiaf”, Badari will examine the university’s interfaces with the economic environment, such as the incubator and the entrepreneurship development center. He is also scheduled to visit an exhibition featuring student-led startups and micro-enterprises. The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of agreements with economic partners and the recognition of outstanding students in innovation and entrepreneurship.
