Air Algérie today announced the arrival of its third Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, marking another step in the company’s fleet modernization and expansion program. The new aircraft, christened “Djanair,” was received at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers.
This latest acquisition joins two other A330-900neo aircraft already in service. The first, named “November 54,” was delivered last November, followed by “Gara Djebilet” in early January. These aircraft are specifically designed for long-haul routes, supporting Air Algérie’s ambitions to expand its international network, particularly to destinations in Canada, China, and South Africa.
The Airbus A330-900neo boasts a capacity of over 300 passengers across various cabin classes. A key feature of this aircraft is its improved fuel efficiency, offering a reduction of up to 25% compared to previous generations. This also translates to a significant decrease in carbon dioxide emissions. Passengers will also benefit from modern in-flight entertainment systems, including Wi-Fi connectivity.
With the addition of “Djanair,” Air Algérie’s fleet now consists of 57 aircraft. This is in addition to the 15 aircraft operated by Air Algérie’s domestic subsidiary. The fleet expansion program, launched in 2023, includes the acquisition of Boeing 737 MAX-9 and Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, as well as 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft to bolster domestic air transport.
This move is part of the company’s broader strategic plan extending to 2035, which includes further acquisitions to meet the growing demand for air travel both domestically and internationally. Air Algérie aims to provide enhanced services and connectivity for its passengers with this ongoing fleet modernization.
