Oran, Algeria – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, has called on university students to actively participate in Algeria’s economic development by transforming their innovative projects into startups and small businesses.
During a working visit to the Higher School of Biological Sciences in Oran, Minister Badari emphasized the crucial role of universities in wealth creation. He toured several university facilities designed to foster entrepreneurship, including a business incubator, an entrepreneurship development center, and a genomics technology platform.
The Minister stressed the importance of leveraging these resources to support students with innovative ideas and convert them into viable economic projects. He highlighted the availability of various state support mechanisms to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.
While visiting an exhibition of innovative student projects, Badari underscored the need to register patents to protect intellectual property and transform scientific research outcomes into marketable products through the creation of startups and small businesses. He urged faculty members to mentor and guide students in this process, with the goal of making universities a primary engine for economic development and a source of sustainable wealth.
Minister Badari’s visit to Oran also includes an inspection of the Industrial Technology Research Center in the Es-Senia district, where he will inaugurate a subsidiary. He will also visit the technological platform for mechanical systems, intervention robotics, and services. Furthermore, the Minister is scheduled to visit the University of Science and Technology Mohamed Boudiaf in Oran to examine the university incubator, the entrepreneurship development center, and an exhibition showcasing student-led startup and small business projects.
Partnership agreements with economic operators will be signed, and outstanding students in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship will be recognized.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to connect universities with the national economy and enhance the role of scientific research in supporting development and creating knowledge-based and innovation-driven employment opportunities.
