Algeria’s Inflation Slows to 1.5% by End of November 2025

Algiers – Algeria’s annual inflation rate experienced a notable slowdown, reaching 1.5% by the end of November 2025, according to the latest report from the National Statistics Office. This figure represents a decrease from the 1.7% recorded in October.

The report indicates that this rate reflects the evolution of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from December 2024 to November 2025, compared to the same period in the previous year. This confirms a slowing pace of inflationary pressures on an annual basis.

On a direct year-on-year comparison, between November 2025 and November 2024, consumer prices showed a slight increase of 0.9%, reflecting relative price stability compared to previous periods.

However, the raw CPI for November 2025 increased by 1.5% compared to October. This rise surpasses that recorded in the same month last year, which saw a decrease of 0.6%. The National Statistics Office attributed this monthly increase primarily to a significant rise in the prices of manufactured goods, which increased by 4.3%, driven particularly by a large jump in the prices of jewelry and watches, which rose by 24.7%.

Conversely, food prices decreased by 0.7%, due to a fall in the prices of fresh agricultural products by 1.3%. This was mainly due to a decrease in the prices of fruits by 10.7%, chicken meat by 7%, vegetables by 3.9%, and eggs by 3.6%. Against this trend, some items experienced price increases, such as potatoes, which rose by 9%, and red meat, which recorded a slight increase of 0.3%.

The report indicated that the prices of manufactured food products remained relatively stable, while service prices recorded a slight increase of only 0.2%.

The National Statistics Office concluded that, taking into account seasonal variations, the CPI increased by 2.1% in November 2025 compared to October, reflecting a seasonal upward trend.
