Algiers – The 39th ordinary annual session of the National Council of the Algerian Muslim Scouts ( الكشافة الإسلامية الجزائرية ) officially commenced Saturday at the International Scout Center in Sidi Fredj, Algiers. The session is dedicated to the memory of the late Mujahid Brigadier General Hamou Abdeljabar.
The Minister of Youth, in charge of the Supreme Council of Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui, along with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, presided over the opening ceremony.
Minister Hidaoui lauded the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Youth and the Algerian Muslim Scouts, highlighting it as a successful model of integration between institutional work and the scouting movement. He emphasized the effective utilization of youth institutions across the country and the Scouts’ significant contribution to organizing and facilitating summer camps, thereby reinforcing values of citizenship, discipline, and volunteerism among young people.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development praised the Algerian Muslim Scouts’ pioneering role in instilling environmental awareness among children and youth. He affirmed that the partnership agreement signed with the General Directorate of Forests is part of national efforts to protect forest resources, promote environmentally responsible behavior, and contribute to the success of national programs related to afforestation and sustainable development.
Abdel Rahman Hamzaoui, the General Commander of the Algerian Muslim Scouts, stated that the convening of the 39th National Council session embodies the spirit of continuity and renewal within the scouting movement. He reiterated the Scouts’ commitment to supporting state policies in the areas of youth, environment, and citizenship.
The opening events concluded with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at the “Mohamed Bouras” Scout camp. The Algerian Muslim Scouts also formally announced their participation in the national initiative to plant 5 million trees in March. This initiative underscores the Scouts’ dedication to environmental stewardship and community involvement.
The National Council session is expected to address key issues related to youth development, environmental protection, and the promotion of civic values.
