National Bar Exam Set for April 2026: Justice Ministry Announces

Algiers – The Ministry of Justice has announced the opening of a national examination for admission to the training program leading to the Certificate of Professional Competence in Law. The examination will take place on April 11th and 12th, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to regulate entry into the legal profession and ensure high-quality legal training.

Online registration will be open from February 1st to February 12th, 2026, exclusively through the official electronic platform: https://concours.mjustice.dz. Candidates are urged to register within this timeframe.

Application files must be submitted between February 15th and March 5th, 2026, at designated law faculties across the country. These include the law faculties of Algiers 1, Batna 1, Bejaia, Biskra, Blida 02, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Setif 2, Sidi Bel Abbes, Annaba, Constantine 1, M’sila, Ouargla, Oran, and Bordj Bou Arreridj. Candidates may also submit their applications at annexes opened within the faculties of Adrar, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Bechar, Tindouf, Tiaret and Ghardaia.

Eligibility requirements for the examination include: Algerian nationality, possession of at least a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree or an equivalent foreign degree, enjoyment of full civil and political rights, absence of any prior criminal convictions related to honor or public decency, and the physical and mental fitness necessary to practice law.

The application file must include: a signed application letter from the candidate, a copy of the LL.B. degree or its equivalent, a copy of the national identity card, a recent passport-sized photograph, and proof of payment of the registration fee of DZD 6,000 to the Lawyers’ Training School (BNA bank account).

The examination process consists of written tests on April 11th and 12th, 2026, followed by oral interviews approximately 20 days after the announcement of the written test results. The competition includes written admission tests, followed by an oral interview for final acceptance, assessing general legal knowledge and the ability to articulate ideas. A large turnout is expected from law graduates aspiring to join the legal profession, viewing this as a crucial step in their careers.
